US&S dwarf signal still stands guard over the (removed) "North Extension" track on the NS (former W&LE/NKP/N&W) line at Ironville (Toledo), Ohio. One rail of the out-of-service track is visible at the far left edge of the picture. Homestead Yard is in the distance. The tower is no longer manned but still used by maintenance forces, and is still well-maintained. Many thanks to contributor Louis Brzuchalski, who set me straight on the location names and details!

Louis Brzuchalski General The correct name is Ironville. Looking ahead in the distance is Homestead Yard, and behind the camera is Ironville (Front) Street yard. The tower was closed a couple years after i retired in 2002, but is now used by Signal Maintainers. The removed track on the left was known as the "North Extension", and was connected tothe Locomotive Rondhouse facilities. 9/8/2011 8:30:19 PM
Geneva Short General Thank you for correcting my error (which I will also attend to in the description). I do appreciate your help! 9/8/2011 9:15:37 PM
